For this book, photographer Günter Valda created portraits for the Austrian General Accident Insurance Institution, capturing both Paralympic champions and people from all walks of life who show that a serious injury marks a new chapter, not an ending.
The design approach was intentionally restrained, letting the photography take centre stage. At the book’s core, typography creates a deliberate counterpoint to the imagery, framing first-hand accounts that offer raw perspectives on finding new purpose and direct advice to others facing similar challenges.
